Reality: A Synthesis of Thomistic Thought
[Softcover] Dominican Father Garrigou-Lagrange was one of the most prominent thomistic theologians of the early and mid-twentieth century. This volume constitutes a veritable summary of the thomist tradition as it stood in his time: Interpreting the teaching of St. Thomas Aquinas, called the 'Angelic Doctor,' and his successors, reality is seen in light of the central doctrines of the Trinity, of Creation, and of the Incarnation of the Son as Jesus Christ, in Whom humankind is drawn into the intimacy of the inner life of the Triune God. Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange also covers salvation, the Sacraments, the Mother of the Redeemer, and the spiritual life whereby the divine image is restored in the soul. This work of Catholic theology, which has been out of print for decades, is of interest to any who wish to deepen their grasp of a major component of the Catholic theological tradition.

Our Catholic Heritage in English Literature of the First Millennium
Ms. Hickey’s reflections sweep us into a magical world of ancient epic, poetry, and allegory--by the verses of Caedmon and Bede; in stories of the Phoenix, the Cross, and King Alfred; in old runes and lost loves--in all of which one again and again discovers that Christ has been the narrative’s subject all along. “This little book makes no claim to be a history of pre-Conquest British Literature. It is an attempt to increase Catholics’ interest in this part of the ‘inheritance of their fathers.’ It is not a formal course, but a sort of talk, as it were, about beautiful things said and sung in old days: things which to have learned to love is to have incurred a great and living debt. I have tried to clothe them in the nearest approach I could find to their original speech, with the humblest acknowledgement that nothing matches that speech itself. If this little book in any way fulfils the wishes of those who have asked me for some thoughts on English Literature, I shall be glad indeed.”

The Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation
In the eighth century A.D., a holy monk named Bede set about describing the growth of Christianity in England over three centuries--the conversion of peoples, the miracles, the saints, the invasions by pagan hordes, the battles, the bloodshed, and finally the triumph of the Cross. Twelve centuries later, we may read with appreciation this history of England as written by the pen of one of her earliest historians.

The Prayer Book of Aelfwine of Hyde
A few decades before the Norman conquest of England in 1066, a Benedictine monk at Hyde Abbey named Aelfwine assembled a small prayer book from the prayer tradition of early Saxon Christianity. That monk, who later became Abbot of Hyde, passed to his heavenly reward but fifteen years before the influx of Norman culture from France would reshape the prayer and liturgical tradition of English Christianity. The prayers which are preserved in his book witness to the zeal and vigor of early English Christianity, with a poetry that stirs the soul, over ten centuries since first they were prayed.
