Back in the mid 1990s, one of my novels was published by Masquerade Books out of New York. It's a sci-fi/erotica/swashckler. I was disappointed with the cover. (Isn't everyone?) The publisher is long extinct. I'd like to re-publish through Lulu to make it available, but I'm determined to have the "lurid cover" I've always wanted.
I need to commission something like the SF covers of the "old school". E.g, Joe Juskin, Frazetta, or comic-book style. If you've ever seen the cover of "Venus on the Half Shell" you know what I'm talking about. Willing to negotiate a price with an artist, but this is also one of those things that isn't going to make any money anyway.
Why would I bother? Well, copies of the book seem to occasionally fetch unreasonably high prices on the used market, and I'm not getting anything from that anyway, so I might as well re-publish in a nicer edition. And I can now include the map that the publisher didn't want to put into the first edition. And I can have my lurid cover, if I can find the right artist. This is a low-paying gig, but if you think you can hack it, please post here or send me a message... |
