|
|
Hello Everyone,
The situation with the increase in prices was the result of several issues. Specifically, we recently switched mail providers and in that transition lost some of our lower cost international shipping choices. In addition, we had been eating a lot of cost in international shipping and had to increase costs. The combination of these two events resulted in some of the prices users are currently seeing.
To resolve the situation, we are planning to roll out an economy shipping option in the next couple of weeks for our International customers that, while a little more expensive than the previous cost users may have been seeing, will be much more reasonable.
The economy shipping method will allow for worldwide shipment of a package from our US vendors for approximately $11 USD (roughly 8.4 Euros or 6.8 GBP) for up to 1.4 pounds and approximately $10 USD (roughly 7.7 Euros or 6.2 GBP) additional per additional pound after the first 1.4 pounds.
We hope this helps clear things up and we apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.
Regards,

| I can't see any economy option for Brazil either. And a shipping cost of 11 USD is too high, anyway. |

Carol said it's coming in a few weeks.
The prices look like they should be better than CreateSpace's international shipping (which quoted $25 to France for one book, delivery in 19 business days from order date, when I checked it), though not as low as Cafepress's ($7 for the first book, delivery in 11-15 business days from order date) -- though of course Cafepress generally has much higher book prices.
Carol, what speed is the new service? |

Carol, is this why shipping prices increased so much for US customers too? I know our shipping prices didn't shoot up as high as those authors outside the US... but a $2 increase for media mail rate ($ 5.90) for one book is quite a lot (isn't media mail supposed to be an "economy" shipping option? so, why so pricey?), especially with the new book price increases.
Why did Lulu change mail providers if it's going to cost us (and our customers) more money? |

| I don't see any economic shipping to Brazil either. Actually, there's a slight difference in the shipping price, it's not 131 dollars anymore, but 132 dollars. I wouldnt't call that economic. |

Carol,
what makes me very concerned is that Lulu doesn't seem to realize that no one in Brazil will pay a shipping cost of $132 to buy a single book. It's a surreal situation, especially because the same thing is happening with the shipping costs to many other countries. So I can't help worrying about the future of Lulu. |

The current fees for international shipping are simply absurd. If this isn't a glitch in your website I actually have to ask what the persons responsible were thinking. The only thing such prices will do is driving away international customers.
I don't know one shipping company that charges over 100$ for delivering one book from the US to Europe. It's okay to charge what your shipping company charges you, plus a small fee for packing. No more, no less. |

This whole thread is about the cheaper delivery options that are being set up to begin in a couple of weeks' time. Please read the first post.
Express from the US to the UK used to cost me about £6.80, so if this is now the economy rate I'll be OK with that. |
