|
|
In mid October I finished proofing the text for a Fantasy anthology with hopes of getting it on Lulu before the month was done. What stopped me was my cover artist let me down. I approached her with the project in July, four months ago, and now cannot even get in contact with her.
Enough background.
As time passes, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. My cover artist has let me down and there is no way generic Fantasy cover art would work, and it's driving me mad, having the text ready with this step standing in the way. Knowing the importance of cover art on genre books, I thought I'd come here to ask my fellow Science Fiction/Fantasy authors for an opinion:
Do you think it would damage my prospects of selling my book if I simply put the blurb usually found on the back of books on the front? |

And that would be the cover? It would not be good.

| A plain cover would be better than one with a blurb on it. |

the cover design wizard contains many art file options for creating a cover. Granted they are not your own, but for now are better than nothing.
Also further down the forum you will find cover designers who may help you.
In fact take a look at the art on my storefront and if any are sutable let me know and I may resize it and stick your text on and mail it to you. For a mention on your copyright page |

A cover is extremely important in my opinion, take for example the Coral Kingdom by Douglas Niles, the cover art by Clyde Caldwell immediately captured my interest and i bought it as a result. I still haven't read the book, because i'm busy reading something else, but when i saw the cover something inside of me told me; BUY IT!!
Just wait until you have found a proper reliable illustrator for your project, because -analogy alert! - it doesn't matter how good an engine of a Mercedes or the newest Audi model is, if the exteriors of those cars look horrible nobody will buy them. |

First, let me apologize for dropping off the face of the earth, so to speak. The last few weeks have been a living hades for me. I won't go into detail, but trust me, I was out of it net-wise.
Anyway, thanks for the very needed and appreciated opinions and suggestions. I will look into them. |
