I've paid $25 each for listing a number of my books on Amazon.com Marketplace by Lulupress.
Does it go beyond the 'value' of those $25 to have a 'proper' product detail listing.
For example:
This is listed for one of my books:
Paperback
ASIN: B002USH5MG
No page numbers, no language, no publisher, no trim size
Is expecting 'the minimum' expecting too much? Does it say anywhere that MarketReach only gets the book up, but then I have to do the rest of what I thought I paid for? |

I have my book on Amazon.co.uk and was able to fill in all details myself. They actively encourage the author on there to give as many details as they can.
On the American site I have a complete page they have given me; which is wonderful. I was able to tell them about myself etc., that has my photo (god forbid!) and details I have written, and I can easily go into the page and make changes whenever I feel like it. I haven't tried doing this on Amazon.com though.
It's irritating when your book is published and then you find that numerous sites like Tesco.com, Borders, Waterstones, actually do advertise it but give no synopsis of the story. Who on earth is going to buy a book without an idea of what it's about? One can only hope that they see the book and search Amazon for it later, thereby purchasing the book through them instead of the initial site they clicked on to.
Nielsens hold the monopoly when it comes to book description and you can approach them and pay a fee of £150 per year for a continual listing; but that covers 15 books and if you only have one it's a bit costly.
You can also try Bookfinder4u who will show you which countries are currently stocking your book. Mine is available in 39 stores worldwide. Take a look, it costs you nothing. It is strange to see your book available in Japan in Japanese writing too! |
