FTM International is a community of individuals dedicated to being our authentic selves. We revel in the broad diversity of our membership and support their expression of exactly who they are without question or compromise. FTMI is dedicated to creating safe and supportive space for those who find themselves drawn to making community with other FTMs.
FTMs come from every imaginable sexual orientation, cultural background, age range, and include persons who are just beginning to examine gender issues as well as persons who have been dealing with them for many years.

FTM Newsletter 1987-1992
FTM International publishes the FTM Newsletter, which began in 1987 as a recap of one of our quarterly meetings with announcements for upcoming events. Later it evolved into a compendium of information and the original community forming a place where new men could reach out for connection with others. It has grown to become the widest circulated and most respected publication exploring the FTM experience.
When it began, there was no charge for FTM-identified individuals to receive the newsletter, but donations to FTM have always been necessary for its survival and go exclusively toward the production and distribution costs of our publications and networking efforts on behalf of all FTMs.

The Story of A Transsexual Man
On this tape, James tells about growing up in a female body in the 1950’s, and how he struggled with the conventions of rigid gender roles. He describes his attempts to fit in as a child and adolescent. In spite of feeling more male than female, James was involved in the rise of feminism and in the Gay and Lesbian pride movement in the late 1960’s and early ‘70’s. He lived as a lesbian for 22 years openly acknowledging his sense of incongruity between his body and his psyche. This is the story of his choice to dramatically resolve the incongruity and to live his life fully as a man. This is the story of the positive and negative consequences of that choice.

We FTMs are parents, brother, fathers and uncles. We are mechanics, rabbis, ministers, students, surfers, skateboarders, translators, construction workers and every other role you can imagine. We are every ethnic identity and cultural background, and represent every flavor of sexuality gay, bisexual, straight and everything else in between. This calendar is not definitive of FTM diversity, yet it is a start to show the world that we FTMs are here and are not invisible.
