  Sisuk David Peterson is the most articulate and gifted communicator of WSLVT in our time; his combined expertise in Ving Tsun and the Chinese language gives him a unique perspective and capacity to understand and then communicate the concepts and principles of this powerful method of self-protection, passed onto him by Sigung Wong Shun Leung. I am grateful every time I re-read anything he has written or have the pleasure of reading anything new from him. As I continue to grow and evolve in Ving Tsun, I always learn something new or learn more about what I already have learned, as I read his writing's and view his DVD's and online clips. I consider everything that he produces as required reading or viewing in the study of WSLVT.

  I would like make clear that I am not a student of David Peterson or anyone from the Wong Shun Leung's Wing Chun Lineage, so I will try to be as impartial with my review of this book as possible. A beautiful hard cover book written from one of the foremost exponents of the Wong Shun Leung's Wing Chun system, Sifu David Peterson. Anyone who has read Mr Peterson's articles on his website, http://www.wslwingchun.my/, watched his DVD's from Cranesproduction.net or read his first book, "Look Beyond the Pointing Finger - the Combat Philosophy of Wong Shun Leung" knows that he is well versed in conveying his late teacher's message thru various media and this book is no different. Each page is coherently written and beautifully illustrated. Anyone who is a practitioner of Wing Chun will enjoy reading this book as well as be able to benefit as well as supplement and add to their current training with knowledge from one of the hero's of this famous martial arts of all time,...   This book is a comprehensive wealth of knowledge. It combines a scholastic writing and research with a simple method of explanation. WSL Ving Tsun Kuen Hok is very thought provoking. The concepts included are well explained. It will force to reevaluate any previous knowledge of martial arts. The book is well outlined. Beside the foreword et al, David Peterson delves immediately into the core of the system. It shows the art ina reality based manner. This is how wing chun should be practiced, in order to learn a fighting, defensive system. The whole system is covered briefly in its entirety. There are many tenets included, which make it appropriate for non practitioners, beginners and advanced students. There are historical parts, biographies, but they are well placed in the middle; the biography of Ip Man is fascinating and superbly researched. This gets the reader into the system rapidly. This book is one of the most, if not the most, important one in the collection of wing chun and... More > martial arts in general. It is highly recommended.   This is it, The Bible for WSL Ving Tsun Practitioners or anyone interested in Ving Tsun/Wing Chun. Sifu David Petersons Knowledge in WSLVT is second to none and he is more than capable to 'walk the walk', not just talking VT. His communicaton skills are also fantastic, serious but always with a smile. All this shines through in this Masterpiece of a book. Although not a how to book, you really get a deeper insight in the WSLVT system and the Man, Wong Shun Leung. In fact, the book is so great that I will be buying the softcover version when it's ready for taking notes etc. Of course I also have to mention my friend Sifu Eric Lilleør's Publishing Skills. A great book became greater with the cooperation between him and Sifu David Peterson. I know Grandmaster Wong Shun Leung would be very proud if he saw what they have accomplished together. I hope all my students and anyone interested in VT/WC/WT buy a copy of this book and support such a fantastic project.

  As I paged through the book I kept seeing topics that are at the heart of our System. As always Sibak's ability in explaining WSL VT theory in an effective and thorough manner are captured in the book. The book itself is laid out as a piece of Art thanks to your Eric Lilleor's Publishing Skills. Great way to pay Tribute and Memorialize Sigung's wonderful Scientific Method. It is personally Inspiring to me in continuing to coach our System, and is a great Reference Source. Thanks again to Sibak David Peterson and you Eric Lilleør.
