When I was eight years old, I was introduced to the magic of photography by my father, a successful commercial photographer. I will never forget the wonder of seeing my first print appear under the warm red glow of the safelights. I was hooked, and have never been far away from a camera since.
In the 1980s, I began exhbiting my own work solo and in group shows. I spent a couple years doing freelance commercial work, but have always found that my heart was really in doing projects of my own choosing, creating my own art. My work has appeared in several galleries, in magazines, and has been purchsed by private collectors on four continents. (Whooooo!)
Recently, I've switched almost exclusively to digital photogaphy. Though I miss basking in the safelight's warm glow, the smell of fixer, and the magic of seeing prints develop before me, I've come to embrace the technology for what it is, and love the freedom and control it provides. With modern equipment and a good understanding of the tools, one can produce images that rival the beauty of silver based prints, and with sites like Lulu Press, sharing my work has become easier than ever.
It's a great joy to be able to present my photographs to an ever wider world audience, and make them affordable to purchase. I hope you enjoy them!

In Celebration of Briar - 2009
This is the third year for the calendar, "In Celebration of Briar." For 2009, I decided to do something a little different, and produced all the photographs in colour. I'm really excited by these images. The portfolio continues to grow, with both B&W and full colour images now represented. Ultimately, I'll make the entire body of work available in a book, but for now, here's a fantastic way for us to display our fascination with and passion for these wonderful little briar works of art.

In Celebration of Briar - 2008
All new for 2008! The photographs in this calendar are drawn from an ongoing portfolio of the same title. It is an exploration, in black and white, of the beauty and artistry of the briar tobacco pipe, both classic and modern. Not simply documentary images, these are expressions of the personality, the spirit of each piece; they are portraits of the pipes.
