2008 Apr 12 The truth of the matter is, I have gotten everything I have ever wanted. Unfortunetly, everything I've asked for is not always what I needed. Nor did it always come at the time I wanted it.
The reality of life has been, for me at least, putting it out there (asking); doing research to make sure it was plausible (seeking); then investigating the probablity of it actually happening (knocking). What I have found is that once I ask, I need not continue to do so. I just need to continue updating my skills in order to be ready when it manifests.

2008 Apr 11 I heard, "Let go and let God" so many times I thought it was being played on the radio stations top ten list. But, once I stopped listening to people yell this at me, I was able to relax and truly let go. I let go of the notion that: everyone wants help everyone is deserving of help everyone learns from past mistakes everyone learns from others mistakes everyone care about the environment everyone is strive to make this world a a better place we all "truly" want to get along with our neighbors the playing field is even we are all in this together. It is not my responsibility to drag people over the finish line; exspecially if they are not running the same race. I remember the stories of Sojouner Truth and how when she was helping the slaves to freedom that she threaten to kill them herself if they tried to go back to the plantation. She was strong, determined and positioned to make that work. It doesn't seem to be so easy when you are trying to help people who still have that slave mentality and are happy just "gettin a check" which allows them to just "get by". Nope, I'm not her. But, I chose to be here to assist anyone who wants help. What I can do is continue to be true to my God, myself and the rest will all fall into place. I love this life. Alone or sharing, it has been an excitingly weird ride. But I know some day I must step off and allow someone else the opportunity to enjoy the ride.
2008 Jan 31 When I began writing Nuggets I was ready to set the world on fire with my wisdom and insite. Well, the reality of this project is that it has been in many hands. I've sent copies to some of the most reputable agents, publishers, talk show hosts, rappers and city officials. What hasn't happened is the rush to buy it. I'm thankful for having had this opportunity. But what I feel has come out of this is the opportunity I asked God for. To be able to help others who are struggling with their communication skills. I am now working as a Gang Prevention specialist in Northeast Dallas. As such I am helping a community and individuals find a means to better themselves. So, if this book never sells, I have accomplished a major fete. BUT, I would love to see my name on Oprah's book club selection. So, enjoy your reading choice and give back when you are able.
2006 Mar 16 Hello!
I'm Gail Washington and the host of this blog. I welcome your comments, opinions and resources.
I'm totally new to the world of blogging, but I'm adaptable and will catch on quickly.
I'll be checking in randomly as I begin my new career as a writer. I am entering into a networking frenzy which is causing night and day to run together. But, I would love your comments on my first book project. You may access other writings at associatedcontent.com.
The maternal companion to Nuggets (Gems) is in the works. These books are just the beginning of a series of self help books - written from the childs perspective. I am a daughter, sister, aunt and single black American woman. I can only speak from angles which I have lived.
I hope, at the very least, you're inspired to help those who are struggling with their place in life find resources to gain knowledge in order to empower themselves.
Enjoy!

"You're either part of the problem or part of the solution. It's your choice."
This is the quote I got during my high school graduation from my god dad. I have continually tried to find the most efficient way to be part of the solution. Nuggets is an attempt to encourage, empower and motivate those who feel hopeless and helpless in new jobs, environments and neighborhoods.
Be encouraged and don't forget to glean!
