A Spiritual Treasury for the Children of God
A day-by-day devotional book by WILLIAM MASON (1719-1791). The text has been lightly updated for today's readers. From the original Preface: I have found a sweet savor of Jesus' precious name, free grace, and perfect salvation, in these meditations... They will be profitable to you, if you are hungering and thirsting after Jesus and his righteousness; or if you are one of those happy souls who know Jesus to be the Lord by the Holy Spirit, and are desiring to grow in the knowledge of his adorable person, and in the love of the Father through him... W. Romaine, 1765

The Mute Christian under the Smarting Rod
A revised edition of the book by THOMAS BROOKS published in 1659. If you are going through trials, you need to read this book! Meditations on the Preceptive Part of the Word of God
By J. C. PHILPOT. "We have a rule of life as far exceeding the law as the new covenant of grace and truth in the glorious Person of the Son of God exceeds and outshines the old covenant of works; and as much as the ministration of the Spirit, of life, and of righteousness excels in glory the ministration of the letter, of death, and of condemnation. (2 Cor. 3:6-11.) In a word, the precepts of the New Testament, in all their fulness, minuteness, and comprehensiveness, are our rule of life."

Solitude Sweetened
Solitude Sweetened was written by JAMES MEIKLE, a surgeon in the Royal Navy. Most of these meditations were written on board a warship, between the years of 1757–1760.
This book is a wonderful example of the practical outworkings of a sound Biblical theology. The doctrines of God’s sovereignty in the salvation of His people, and His providential care for them, took deep root in the mind and heart of James Meikle. Ordinary events became occasions for spiritual instruction, which he recorded in a series of brief essays, or meditations. The failure of carefully made plans reminded him that God’s ways are not our ways, and that His timing is best. The occasion of slander reminded him that God had a purpose in sending it, and that he should not seek revenge. The need for eyeglasses reminded him that he was growing older, and nearing his journey’s end, and would soon arrive at his Father’s house.
The text has been revised for contemporary readers. It is “must reading” for our generation!
