Most recently, he served as President of Ipas, an international women’s health organization. Greenslade then evolved into a writer. He captured his experiences in his book, The Simple-Minded Manager: Cutting Through Your work-Life Chaos. Greenslade honed his speaking skills through Toastmasters International. He has earned TI’s highest educational certification, Distinguished Toastmaster. In 2001, Dr. Greenslade was named North Carolina’s Toastmaster of the year. His latest book, written with his artist daughter Kathryn Armstrong, is Haicooo: Little Poems for Children. Recently, Forrest Greenslade underwent yet another metamorphosis. He became a sculptor. I'd Rather Be Lying In The Coffin...
Fear of speaking in public is ubiquitous. It happens to almost all of us at some time in our lives. There is even an official phobia concerning public speaking – glossophobia. Americans rank speaking in public as their number one fear, higher even than death. I am sure that is why comedian Jerry Seinfeld strikes such a cord when he says, “I guess this means that most people at a funeral would rather be in the coffin than delivering the eulogy." We all fear getting up in front of people. I am no different. However, I have learned that effective public speaking is a learnable skill. I used to think that there were people who were just natural speakers, and people who naturally poor in front of groups. Sure, some people are more comfortable than others, but every one of us can learn the skills to be effective speaking before other people. The exercises in this mini-course are designed to help you do just that.

Selected Poems: The Poet's Corner, Fearrington Writers Group
Beautiful Spirit: Selected Poems from the Fearrington Writers Group. A group of writers living in Fearrington Village, North Carolina initiated the Fearrington Writers Group in 2000, as a forum for people interested in various writing genres. The Group meets four times a year to listen – and enjoy - as members read their poems, stories, reminiscences and general writing. In April 2005 the Writers Group spun off a sub-group for those especially interested in poetry. Known now as the “Poets” Corner,” the group meets once a month using a workshop format where members read their poems, exchange comments and make suggestions on the individual offerings. The Poets’ Corner has worked well and its members, in appreciation of a full year of consistent dedication to poetry, offers this selection of poems reflecting, for the most part, works read and discussed during the previous twelve sessions.
