Google Book Search (Beta) (formerly Google Print) is a free marketing tool that helps get your book content to your audience in their Google search results. You will retain all of your rights to your content using Google Book Search. Google scans the full text of participating books. When a user clicks on a book search result, they're taken to a Google-hosted web page displaying a scanned image of the relevant page from the book and links to your buy your book from online retailers. As a benefit of using Google Book Search through Lulu, the first link will bring your customers directly to your content on Lulu. Here you have the most control of the message or description of your book.

How do customers find my books on Google?

They perform a search on Google.com starting with the word "book" and followed by either the author name or book title. While the program is in beta, Google Book Search results appear at the top of your search results with a "Book results" logo. Please be aware that you occasionally may not get any book results when you search. In addition, your search is not guaranteed to return a specific book. During this beta period, Google Book Search is increasing the number of books in the program and expanding the number of queries that will yield Google Book Search results.

How much of my book will users be able to view?

Google respects the rights of copyright holders and the tremendous creative effort of authors, which is why Google Book Search only allows users to view the full texts of books when they're in the public domain. Books that are still in copyright will show up in Google Book Search results, but users will only be able to view very small text snippets and/or bibliographic information, unless Google has express permission from the publisher to show full page views.

Books submitted to Google Book Search through Lulu are limited to 20% accessible to any given user during a 30-day period. Google also offers a number of additional security features such as randomly blocked pages and restrictions on the number of consecutive pages a user can access.
