Joseph Bogo

(NOW AVAILABLE IN LARGE PRINT AND HARDCOVER, TOO!) All the miners wanted was to shut down a non-union coal mine. But when the men marched on the Cliftonville mine in 1922 the battle that ensued was far worse than they could have imagined. And afterward, along with one dying miner’s life, his hopes and dreams also bled away. However, when outdoorsman and real estate agent Joe Bailey stumbled across Nick Shebellko’s unhappy spirit their existences would become intertwined, for good and for bad. But they grew to share a goal. Nick must learn the fates of the loved ones he left behind, and he and the battle’s other victims must finally find their peace. But little did Joe suspect that he would experience life and tragedy in the 1920’s on the way to bringing closure for the living; himself included… Set in the locale of the world-famous Meadowcroft archaeological dig, this story is both timely and timeless. (This novel is based on a historical event in 1922, but it blends a fictitious rendering of a tragic coal mining battle and life in a mining village with people today.) I invite you to explore my book. I believe you will like it and may want to read it again. (BY THE WAY... I will be happy to send a 4"x4.5" - 10x12 cm - sticker to you, designed in the theme of the book and numbered and signed by me. You can then apply it to the inside front cover, just as I do when signing a book locally. Just let me know! It can be there at roughly the same time as Lulu takes to deliver the book. Just let me know where to send it.) CLICK ON THE BOOK IMAGE to go to the product page, which includes a Preview.

Holes in the Hills
How might we react if the spirit of a coal miner killed in a tragic labor incident in 1922 were to confront us? In fact, Joe Bailey is confronted by such a spirit. And, what if you or I were that miner, unable to find peace after all this time? Then, both cosmic and human forces, in fine alignment with Joe as their trip-wire, could be our only hope for closure and for peace. Nick Shebellko was cut down in the prime of his life during the vividly described battle at the Cliftonville mine. But eight decades later Joe, an outdoorsman and real estate agent, meets and befriends Nick’s spirit. He and teacher friend Jessie Randall fight to bring peace to Nick’s spirit, and to eight other deceased miners, while restoring their own tattered reputations. In the process they not only learn about, but experience 1920’s coal mining camp life, its heartaches and its customs. Set in the locale of the world-famous Meadowcroft archaeological dig, this story is both timely and timeless.
