Brenda Bates

Brenda takes everyday circumstances and turns them into inspiring stories that will help you grow spiritually. Her walk with Jesus is shared through short inspirations, meditations, devotions, and prayers. Any Christian can relate to the trials and the torment that prevent a believer from experiencing God to the fullest. Once salvation is found, forgiveness is received; the Fruits of the Spirit can miraculously fill you to overflowing. Experience her moments with Holy Spirit in quiet time, prayer time, and worship. Each of Brenda's short inspirations is part of her personal story. Spiritual growth can be discovered or renewed for you as well. "I have found on my Christian journey, my spiritual walk, that many Christians give themselves the title, "Christian" but have not truly found the peace that is possible through salvation. We need to know our Creator intimately. We need to have a relationship with Him. But where do we start? I recommend that you forget what you know about religion, it will make you stumble every time. What? Forget that I'm a Methodist or Catholic or Lutheran? Yes! Forget about religion and get lost in the word of God through the pages of your Bible. Trust in Him to speak directly to you to help you grow closer to Him. You will find, in the end, that you will have a love that goes beyond no other.” ~Brenda

God Moments

Do you have God moments? Those moments when without a doubt you know that the result of an event was the perfect plan of the Creator of the Universe. A moment in time that cannot be explained as coincidence or happenstance but one in which the Keeper of your soul protected you or changed the outcome of an inevitable disaster.

Let me give you an example. My daughter called me today to say that she had a God moment. Curious, I asked her to tell me about it. She proceeded to tell me that she had picked up her children from day care and was on her way home from work. She was in the turn lane of an intersection waiting for the light to change from red to green. Now normally Miss Lead Foot would not hesitate to put the pedal to the metal and zip around the corner the minute the light changed. But today she felt a need to pause, which leads to her God moment. It was during that pause – that split second that prevented her from being broadsided by a vehicle zooming through the intersection. That instantaneous decision may have saved her life and that of my granddaughters.

While she explained her God moment, I closed my eyes to thank God for protecting my loved ones and at the same time for safely getting the driver of the other vehicle through the intersection. We do not know what the circumstances were for the other driver but we know that there was a hesitation that could very well have saved at least four lives, including his. Did he realize how close he was to a catastrophe? God only knows.

God moments. We all have them but we often do not recognize them. From the other drivers point of view – he made it through the intersection, from my daughter's – she made it through another day.
