Pray for Rain: A College Baseball Story
When R.J "Squat" Hansen returns to the University of Michigan for his fourth
and final year to play in the Maize and Blue, he finds out that his old
coach has turned in an untimely resignation and his best friend, Benny, is
one more collision with the outfield fence away from permanent brain damage.
Now, if he could only impress his new coaches enough to score some playing
time, keep Benny from killing himself, stop his all-star roommate from
shooting off at the mouth, help the team's closer with his drinking problem,
and influence a group of tough guys on the team to stop beating up every
student who got in their way, he just might find time to enjoy his senior
year.
But soon the seniors find out the only thing harder than playing collegiate athletics is having to give it all up.

The great thing with Lulu is that I can update my book as needed and some of my readers have brought a few minor miscues to my attention. Along with fixing some errors, new editions of my book will have fictional rosters and depth charts along the way... look for them! jasonwuerfel@hotmail.com Jason Posted on Tuesday 20 of September, 2005 [21:08:14 UTC] I've noticed a lot of people looking at/downloading/purchasing my book lately and I would love to hear from you and what you think about Pray for Rain! Please e-mail me at jasonwuerfel@hotmail.com or jason@tcbeachbums.com. Jason Posted on Friday 02 of September, 2005 [22:21:45 UTC] I had to up the price a little so Amazon.com would list my book, but if you want to download it for free, just look at the preview, the whole ebook is there. Jason Posted on Thursday 25 of August, 2005 [15:00:57 UTC] I've worked long and hard over the last couple months to chop down my book as much as possible. I wanted the story to move as fast as possible so it has now officially gone from 120,000 words where I finished the first draft to 88,000 words. I've also changed the story to first person from behind the eyes of Squat, which will probably get people asking me more annoying questions like, "Where you really nickanmed Squat?" Nope, still a fictional story, but oh well, it sounds much better this way than the shift from first to third person like I had it before. Jason Posted on Thursday 25 of August, 2005 [15:00:56 UTC] I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has offered me feedback about my book. For those of you who have already read it, feel free to pass the hardcopy or ebook along to friends and family - I wrote it to be read. If you haven't read it yet, please e-mail me at jasonwuerfel@hotmail.com, and I e-mail you back a free ebook. Sadly, I can't afford to send you a free hardcopy or I would have sent one to everyone by now! Jason Posted on Saturday 21 of May, 2005 [19:24:31 UTC] PRAY FOR RAIN AVAILABLE IN HARD COPY! Hooray! It took me hours of watching my computer grind over Paint Shop Pro, but I finally came out with a cover that is decent and good enough to print. I ran out of patience trying to put much on the back cover so you just get a mug shot of me (sorry). I could have been able to make it a little better, but my computer is barely able to run Paint Shop Pro. If you purchase it, please don't forget to leave me a review - and a thumbs up, of course! And don't be scared to reply to this here blog post - it would make me feel like someone actually reads this crap I write. Posted on Monday 02 of May, 2005 [23:51:10 UTC] So, here we go, I've finally given in and decided to publish here on Lulu instead of piling the rejections any higher than they already are. The pdf version is there and ready for download, and the print version will be ready as soon as I get the cover art down. There might be some typos still in there somewhere, so I am waiting to purchase the ISBN until I can iron everything out. Please download and tell me what you think. Posted on Wednesday 20 of April, 2005 [02:21:37 UTC] When I was done playing baseball at the University of Michigan, I had a terrible feeling that I just had to get down on paper. Once I started expressing myself in words, I started to create a story as a metaphor for how I felt. Over a year and a half later I have finished my first draft and I am about a third of the way done with my second draft. I will probably purchase the services of a professional editor after that, but I'm not sure if they are worth the money or if I have the money to give them. Anyway, I've been checking out all my options in between checking grammar, and I'm still thinking about the possibilities of self-publishing vs. chasing down agents and major publishers. I suppose I shouldn't settle on a print on demand service until I've exhausted all my options, but I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. Any thoughts? Would you like to have a free preview of my book Pray for Rain: A College Baseball Story? E-mail me at jasonwuerfel@hotmail.com Jason C. Wuerfel Posted on Tuesday 12 of October, 2004 [15:31:01 UTC]
