Jason Bachand

Jason Bachand was born in Willimantic, Connecticut and began writing at the young age of thirteen. His earliest works include poetry, short stories, and a science fiction novel titled Vivis. His poetry has been received with some acclaim, including three first prize awards from the Windham Area Poetry Project in Connecticut. His first collection of poetry, titled "Rooms of An Ice Water Mansion," is available through online retailers and brick and mortar stores (ISBN #978-1-4303-0875-1). Bachand holds a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Neuroscience from The University of Connecticut and published several journal abstracts before leaving scientific research to pursue writing and further education. Thematically, his works run the gamut of aesthetic and philosophical ideas, from explorations in social justice and political ideologies to reflections on the small spaces in the mind and soul that create the human experience – tragic and triumphant. He writes "for no other reason but the enterprise of truth-seeking, which I am convinced is a communal effort achieved through the creative act, the plain living of life, and the choice to make love supreme regardless of the persistent horrors of reality."
