Through the years, I have come across a number of people who have been truly dissatisfied with their lives and the direction in which they seemed to be heading. To this end, I believe that LIFESTYLES can become ADDICTIVE. The problem may be that they feel powerless in being able to do anything to inspire change in themselves and/or their circumstances. I think I have created a solution. Powered by the notion that - if asked the right questions – most people can use their own answers to shift their lives back on track – this innovative strategy in motivational workbook form - presents a no frills twelve-step path which provides the reader with an insight into themselves in order that they can either endorse that where they are is the right place for them to be (contrary to the expectation of others) or highlight the need for simple fine-tuning (contrary to their own struggle to fit in). The guideline reflectives set out in this workbook can be used at one’s own pace; repeatedly – in any sequence – depending on which aspect of life seems out of balance at the time!

reSTYLEing your LIFE

You are probably wondering who I am and what gives me the notion that I have the right (not to mention the ability) not only to compose this workbook but also to unleash it on the rest of the world?!

Well, to tell the truth, I am an ordinary person (much like you) who has had an ordinary life (much like you) complete with its assortment of ups and downs, ins and outs, highs and lows, moments of calamity and tranquility (much like you).

I have dated, married, survived live-in relationships, and lodged alone. I single-parently raised two children, took in a few others and am currently rearing three grandchildren.

I have friends and I have enemies; I know and appreciate the importance of both.

I have managed a radio station and combed the obituary column for leads to sell tombstones. I have been the boss and have been the staff; the teacher and the student. I have told lies and discovered that the truth really will set you free. I have slothed with celebrities and dined with peasants. I enjoy being raucous and need reclusivity. I have unfilled desires and non-ceasing dreams. I have soapbox opinions yet refuse to be drawn into confrontation. I have had money (and saved) and have not (and spent) - but I have never felt poor. I have imbibed alcohol and inhaled nicotine too much and not enough. I do not do “politically correct” or exercise much.

I yearn to live past 100 - and fear growing old. I am chronologically 60ish, physically and mentally 40ish, and still convinced that my soul mate is out there somewhere. I believe in karma, know the consequences of wishing too hard for what you want and have experienced serendipity in action. Most of my days never finish the way they begin.

I am comforted with the knowledge that through it all I managed to avoid therapy, no matter how fashionable the trend…and managed to arrive at this juncture a calm, rational, focused individual with no surplus baggage to haul around. It is this one, major accomplishment that has encouraged me to devise this concept.

I'm one of those people others seem to gravitate to - to help them get through a crisis, sort out a problem or just talk. I relish observing human nature; I applaud the human spirit and I am appalled by the lack of human compassion.

I believe if asked the right questions, most people will use their answers to lead themselves to an appropriate outcome.

I know that only once our own lives are in order and we are truly in control can we begin to be beneficial to others - children, family, friends, as well as the community at large.

I believe the process is more important than the end - because we never really conclude, we remain constant in our evolution.

reSTYLEing your LIFE© is the blueprint of my process.
