A.E.F. PUBLISHING UPDATES, AS OF 1/25/08:
May-June, 2008 - A RED CROSS UNDER THE RED ARROW: THE WAR DIARY AND MEMOIRS OF A 32ND DIVISION MEDIC, by Eward T. Lauer, as edited by Robert J. Laplander. Ed Lauer was a young Milwaukean who enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard soon after President Wilson declared war on Germany in April, 1917. He quickly found himself assigned to a medical sanitary squad and on his way to France. During the crossing of the Atlantic his troopship, the ill-fated TUSCANIA, was sunk, and while Lauer survived, his best friend did not. So began the war adventures of a man that wound up his war experiences with the Knights of Columbus assisting returning troops, and who eventually became the official historian for the 32nd Division. Originally written and mimeographed by Lauer for only his closest friends, author Robert J. Laplander has taken this moving account of a 'regular soldier' who survived some extrordinary circumstances and fleshed it out for a new generation to read. A must have account for your WW1 library!
Mister Laplander will be releasing the book to the public at the 'Reclaiming Our Heritage' fesival held on the Milwaukee V.A. Grounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 31st.
February, 2009 - AGAINST THE ODDS: THE TRUE STORY OF THE FAMOUS 'WOODEN HORSE' ESCAPE OF WW2 AND THE MEN THAT MADE IT HAPPEN', by Robert J. Laplander. Set during the later half of 1943 in the infamous Nazi POW camp Stalag Luft III, this book is the true story of how 3 men dug a successful escape tunnel from beneath a wooden vaulting horse. Robert J. Laplander, for the first time ever, tells the complete and full story of the men involved and exactly how one of the most ingenious escapes of WW2 was perpetrated - and how close it actually came to failure. Includes photos of reenacted portions of the story, using a full size replica of the wooden horse built especially for the book. Sure to be a full on favorite!
February, 2010 - DER ABORT DEINST: THE TRUE STORY OF THE ESCAPE THAT PAVED THE WAY FOR THE 'GREAT ESCAPE', by Robert J. Laplander. When 34 men tunnelled out of a latrine from Oflag XXIb in Poland in March 1943, little did they realize that their successful break out would prove to be the training ground for the infamous 'Great Escape' from Stalag Luft III only a year later. An exciting, true story of a little known, yet hugely influencial, escape during WW2. Destined to become another benchmark work by author Robert J. Laplander.
Undetermined date - A COMPANY OF WAR: COMPANY A, 308TH INFANTRY IN THE BATTLE FOR THE ARGONNE FOREST, SEPTEMBER 26 - OCTOBER 15, 1918 The complete story of one of the 'point' companies that led the 308th Infantry Regiment into battle in the Argonne Forest on Sptember 26th, 1918. Thirteen days later, when the 'Lost Battalion' - of which Company A was a part - was relieved from their position in the Charlevaux Ravine, from an original strength of 241 men and officers, Company A could only muster 44 men and no officers... A moving and definitive account of a unit that suffered terribly doing its duty in the blood bath of the Argonne Forest.

Welcome to American Expeditionary Foundation Publishing, your source for some of the most brilliantly researched military themed works available!
No, we are not the biggest military publisher around. But we do pride ourselves on what we print; namely, meticulously investigated military fact, coupled with entertaining, sparkling writing. It all started with our fantastic benchmark works on the 'Lost Battalion' of WW1, which set the high standards against which all further work on that subject will be judged. And we, in turn, will judge all our future works by those standards as well. And those future works? They are a comin'! We have planned releases set for both the 2009 and 2010 seasons - each every bit as intensely investigated and vividly written as our previous works - by several different authors, so check back here often for updates! Or, contact us direct for further information.
Got a tale to tell? Or maybe you have a manuscript that you feel is well written and painstakingly researched? Is nobody listening? We will! Drop us a line - we'll shoot you straight. We've been there! Remember: Our advice is always free.
