Marie Delgado Travis

MARIE DELGADO TRAVIS is an award-winning writer. Her poetry chapbook, MIRACLES: A BOOK OF (MOSTLY) HUMOROUS POETRY received Honorable Mention, 10th Annual Latino Book Awards, Best Poetry Book in English Category, Book Expo America, Los Angeles (May 2008). MIRACLES is now featured in BLOSSOM: COLLECTED POEMS IN ENGLISH. This is Marie's second Honorable Mention in this prestigious writing competition, which promotes Latino Literacy. In 2007, her bilingual (Spanish English)poetry collection, LA VENTANA / THE WINDOW took that honor at the 9th Annual International Latino Book Awards held at Book Expo America in NYC in the Best Poetry Book in Spanish category. Marie was named JURIED POET, 2007 Houston Poetry Fest. In 2005, the title poem, "The Window" earned SECOND PLACE in the international TOM HOWARD POETRY CONTEST (over 1, 600 entries received). Two of Marie's poems were COMMENDED in the same contest. Marie's work has been featured in numerous publications, including ACROSS THE LONG BRIDGE: An Anthology of Award-Winning Poetry, John H. Reid, Editor (2006) and CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE LATINO SOUL, Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Susan Sanchez-Casal, Editors (2005).
