Perseus Beheading Medusa
This is Benvenuto Cellini's famous bronze statue of Perseus after he cut the head of Medusa. It stands in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence, Italy. It was made between 1545 and 1554. It was lauded for the sense of realism of the blood pouring "impetuously" from Medusa's trunk.
I carefully extracted the image of the statue from it's confining background to create this stunning piece. I added the red tone to the gore of Medusa's severed neck for additional impact.
