What happens when an acknowledged madman draws to stay
sane, and fails utterly? He publishes a book of the ranting of his mind and
makes it available to other madmen!
Since youth, Mason Garrett attended various art schools, living the starving
artist's life and trying to avoid "Going Van Gough" on himself. After venting
his personal demons during a tour in the U.S. Army, he traveled throughout
Europe supporting himself as a sketch artist in the streets and parks.
Returning to the U.S. after some years, Mason spent most of his adult life close
to the publishing industry, with intermittent stints as a professional actor in
Hollywood. The pressure, and portfolio, built up in tandem, culminating in his
first nervous breakdown after being the victim of violent mugging that nearly
took his life.
Rising from the ashes of this traumatic time, Mason redoubled his efforts in
artistic expression and self improvement. Professional Astrologer,
acknowledged Crystal Healer and Reiki Master, and a devout Taoist, Mason has now
brought his personal humor and genius (as well as the various voices in his
head) to the reader and fellow artists in both his Blog, Daily Draw, and now,
the Daily Draw Portfolio Series. In Portfolio
One, he recounts his substance abuse and subsequent recovery, using both the
sketchpad and written word to explore the inner workings of one's soul and
psyche. Easily a primer in art therapy, and an art collection for the
aficionado, Portfolio One takes the reader into the world of Mason's mind.
An excellent tool in forming the connections to your own inner artist.
