Gritty True Fiction Crime Drama Novel

Miami Confidential
The reader is transported directly into uncertain territory. This is not the vacation wonderland of travel posters; we are here for a behind-the-scenes look at the new Miami; smugglers' haven of the western hemisphere and murder capital of the United States. In the early chapters we meet Stone - "Mr. Gainesville Green" and Lady Ace - the "Cuban Connection". By chapter eight, peripheral flirtations with benign blackmarketeers deteriorate into deadly encounters with the underworld. In the midst of the Cuban influx or "Mariel Boatlift" and the Miami riots, our insider discovers Santeria or Cuban voodoo and the influence of drugs in the professional arena. He finds himself in a web of involvement which culminates in a "drug deal gone sour" with Jamaican and Colombian gangsters.

I Heard a Lady Say God had More Important Things To Do Than Worry About Her

One of my friends said she did not want to bother God with her problems. I got this funny image of what God must look like to my friend who never wants to impose herself on another:

God's slacking off. He's too busy. His phone is ringing off the hook. He ain't got the time. This omnipotent job ain't all it's cracked up to be. His supervisor must be breathing down His neck.

Maybe He's just unqualified. Maybe we need a new God.Maybe He's tired of this job. All these damn people anyway. Wantin' stuff. Promisin' stuff. "I'll never be bad again", "Please God". "I'll be good". "I'll Never do it again". "I'll be a good girl".

It's enough to piss any self respecting God off. God said it's not how far you can jump but how long you can hang.

Hemp has many uses and is a great cash crop I found this interesting link that illustrates the uses and who grew it. At one time people had to grow hemp isn't that odd...

Hollywood USA or What to Wear to the Emmy Awards

Sally Field has upset a lot of people with her anti-war remark. It's not what she said about the war, apparently, war is okay; it seems to be an acceptable fact. Women, children, and other innocent people die in war, but that's collateral damage. Acceptable.

Bush has tricked us once again into keeping the troops in Iraq. Acceptable.

But, Sally said God Damn. Unacceptable. People consider that to be taking the Lord's name in vain. Every scripture ever written talks about the name of God as mysterious, unchangeable, unspeakable. The very core of our being. Holy breath. And when the Master reveals it, it should be lived, breathed, worshiped; it should not be taken "in vain".

So apparently, the war is o.k. or not o.k., just don't bring God into it. Better to talk about who did or didn't wear panties.

Do They Have Golf In Prison?

James Alexander in James Alexander's Blog
Tuesday 18 of September, 2007
I am really worried about poor OJ. What will he do in prison? What will happen to his golf swing? How is he gonna catch the killers now? Maybe he thought the people in the hotel in Vegas were the killers. Maybe he thought that's why he needed a gun. Well, needed someone with a gun.

The judge was prejudiced.! He said he was after his football memorabilia. He should have said he was after the killers yea, ya know they stole his stuff and then killed Nicole and Ron. Maybe that's what it was all about ya know? He needs to get Johnny Cochran on the case oh yea he's dead. Maybe the killers got him. We know one thing about the killers is that they play a lot of golf. Why else would OJ spend so much time on the golf course? Maybe if they did have more golf in prison we could catch more criminals.

Brazilians love anything about Miami...

James Alexander in James Alexander's Blog

My "ex-husband-in-law", Brito, sent a copy of Miami Confidential to his friend in Brazil who is in television/journalism down there. He passed it around and it was well received. They already near completion of its translation into Portuguese for publication in Brazil, and Brito wants me to go with him to Sao Paulo to appear on "Programa de Jo" (the Jo Show) and then to Belo Horizonte for an art show and book signing. The Jo show, according to Brito, is the Jay Leno show of Brazil; and, being a variety show, I'll probably sing a song of mine. I think I'll talk to Matthew, who is Brito and Lisa's son about translating a song of mine into Portuguese. I'm choosing one that has some Brazilian style jazz chords, although Mathew has been playing some Brazilian rap songs for me...now that I think about it, I do have one that I called Caribbean rap, in fact, it's Lisa's favorite. It's called...um...oh yeah "(Tears are always usually) Thinner than Blood". Kind of a "blood is thicker than water" thing. I don't know how it would stand translation, though. We'll see...

MIami International Bookfair-

James Alexander in James Alexander's Blog
Sunday 27 of November, 2005
Hey All-

My wife Lisa and I just got back from Miami where we entered my new book "Miami Confidential" in the Miami International Bookfair.

There was a lot of rain but the crowd was large. My wife and friends worked the crowd with everything they had and many people saw my book. I sold several copies of it too and got lots of media coverage.

We hope to make it back next year....
