I have dreamt of writing a book since my earliest memories of scribbling essays at school. An avid reader of authors such as: Defoe, Pratchett, Simak, Stevenson, Tolkien, Verne, and Wyndham, to name but a few, I decided (rather brazenly) to write a science fiction / fantasy adventure story, but gave no consideration as to its final length (over 570 pages!), or where it might lead. That story grew into PRISM – Exiles, the fruit of around three years hard spare-time work; I might still have been writing it if a period of ‘resting’ (a euphemism for unemployment!) had not provided an extended spell of free time. This, and the unstinting support of my new wife Loraine, enabled the work to be completed – though completed may not be correct, as Exiles is but the first in a planned series.
Now finally, you can read PRISM - Exiles, in either paperback form or eBook download. Furthermore, I've also now published two short stories under the composite title of PRISM - Two Shards, and two Appendixes for the true PRISM fan.
Please also accept a free download of The Cookie Tin, a short science fiction story, with my compliments.
You can visit my website at http://www.angrywildlegends.com, where extracts from Exiles, together with other free downloads, are available. You will also find some snippets of information concerning the background to PRISM.
I hope you will enjoy reading PRISM - Exiles. Please do visit my website, and let me know. Happy reading!

Print: $28.45 Download: $9.48 “Consider this. You are just an ordinary person, with nothing special to set you apart from the crowd. You have no unique skills or talents. You live a mundane life in an ordinary house in the suburbs of a run-of-the-mill town. You may be eighteen or eighty, and immersed in no-one’s problems but your own. Then one day your world is turned upside down. You find yourself suddenly thrown together with five hundred other souls, severed from the life you once knew. Gone are the securities of technology, resource, and amenity that you once took for granted. In their place are hardship, uncertainty and fear. Now you must fend for yourself. So ask yourself this – how would you fare?”

Print: $8.55 Download: $4.31 The Appendixes are for the keenest fans of PRISM. Inside you will find specific references for the World of Zoheft, a listing of the major flora and fauna, as well as discourses on biology, religion, society, politics, government, grammar, and geography. There is also an overview of key events from Plaq-tî history.
The second volume of these Appendixes features the full Plaq-tîq dictionary.
Consider these Appendixes not as books to be read from cover to cover, but as an effort to answer some of the questions that readers of PRISM have asked me. I always enjoy hearing from my readers, who can contact me through my website.

Print: $10.26 Download: $4.31 When you write a story of any depth it is important for it to be built on a solid foundation. For PRISM, one of the main foundations is language. In this, the second volume of Appendixes, you can see the whole of the Plaq-tî native tongue as it stood at the time of printing.
It would be unreasonable for a civilisation to develop in a far off place, and expect that they would speak the same language as we do! So Plaq-tîq was born, the common tongue of the peoples of the Great Ride.
Consider this book not as something to be read from cover to cover, but as a reference work, a dictionary to be precise. I hope it will add color and depth, and enhance your enjoyment of the world of the PRISM.

Print: $9.48 Download: $4.31 Here are two tales from the world of the PRISM.
'The Rescue' is the story of Tîro, a young man engaged with a secretive organisation supported by House Shenrî, with the aim of undermining the political machinations of House of Domzé. Domzé’s influence has extended beyond their own province of Beletostî, and Tîro must deliver certain documents to agents in Shemthatilth province. However, at the Blue Crown Inn, he meets up with a mysterious stranger…
'Garrison' is the story of Ataqa, a recent addition to the armed forces of House Shenrî. His first posting takes him to the disputed territory of Iron Flats. With him are Hoop, another new young man to military life, and Van, an ageing veteran. Even before they reach the garrison they discover that a Garasentî raiding party is closing in…

Download: FREE The Cookie Tin is a short SF story about Shelby, a young woman who receives an unexpected gift, a cookie tin, from an anonymous, unprepossessing man she meets at a diner. Who is he? What’s inside the tin, and why did the man specifically give it to her?
Shelby returns to her apartment with the tin, and opens the lid. Inside she finds a note. It reads “Have you ever considered what it would be like for someone if they knew the way you feel?” She also finds a second box within the first. Should she open it? If she does, what will she discover? To know the answer you must read the story yourself...

Yes, that's me up there, taken on my recent honeymoon in Cornwall, for me the most perfect place in the world!
Nigel Edwards's Blog
2008 May 28 ...to my blog. I confess that I've not really got the hang of blogs. I have one on Wordpress where I occasionally post my thoughts, but despite having worked in software houses for 20+ years, I'm still a little wary of the do's and don'ts. So anyway, what to say as an opener for this blog? Well, a bit about myself seems favourite, I guess. This is me: | | Me! |
I'm no youngster, as you can doubtless tell, but the old brain is still ticking over quite nicely for now . I've seen quite a few summers, but though I've wanted to write a book for about as long as can remember, it wasn't until my half century approached that I actually did something about it. Science Fiction and Fantasy are the genres I've read the most, so naturally enough that's the type of writing that I do. PRISM - Exiles is my first serious attempt at a novel, and I have to say that once I got going I found it difficult to stop. I plan to write (have already begun) sequels, but it's a slow business, since I work full time as well. Apart from writing, I guess my main interest nowadays is sitting next to my wife, Loraine, watching TV, doing crosswords and other puzzles, and messing about in our tiny garden. We have two dogs, a cat, two snakes, a dozen marine fish, and a big motorbike that's going rusty. In the past I played a lot of rugby (though not to any great level of competence), and I hold a second dan belt in karate. I like music too, of course. I have fairly wide tastes, but I guess my favourite is probably 70's rock and pop. On the other hand, for shear beauty you can't beat the Enigma Variations, and for shear exuberance what could top the 1812? So there you have it. If you want to learn a little more about me you can always pop over to my website. Now then. Who did you say you were?
