Locke of the Forest is set in a fantasy forest, in which civilisations of people live simply and peacefully. Their life revolves around the rankings that separate the top rating Besars from the lowly Rendahs. Civilisation frowns upon connections made between different ranks, and unfortunately for Locke, the heiress of the Clearing people, her childhood friend Kiernan is only a middle ranking Tengah, unlike the high-ranking, sly Alexion.
