In the Spring of 2008, Diane traded in her cold, gray cubicle and answered a call to live among the birds, flowers and other pilgrims on the Pacific Crest Trail. She adopted the trail name Piper in kinship with the birds and because she played a pennywhistle.
Starting at the Mexican border, she watched the State of California pass beneath her feet as she hiked solo to the 1500 mile mark on the trail. Through the joys and hardships of life on the trail she experienced freedom.
