The household is in preparation for Lacy to get a sister, of sorts. Charles Foster – one of the eager participants in the dinner party at which Lacy had been put on display in various shameful manners – had decided to acquire a bride of his own, and he fully subscribed to Edmund’s views on the care and treatment of a wife. He’d already found himself a governess, who would be trained by Nanny Estelle in her unique and exemplary methods of behavior modification, and his bride, who had been right under his nose all the time – would also spend some time in the Wainwright household so that she might have a firm foundation in what would be expected of her by her new husband. Lacy finds herself being punished by not just one strict Nanny, but two, along with her father. Nanny Lydia is even more demanding in some ways than Nanny Estelle . . . and even more creative and inventive in her punishments.
