You have to imagine when you read Jake Berry's poetry that a world exists other than the one we know. A world where the ancients prod the hemisphere with lit torches and wish to take part. The words that emit from Scratching Face rustle about on the end of those torches and drop like ash and those of us fortunate to capture it know what it is like to see to the other side. - Chris Mansel

This work is fragmented and refined; ridiculously good. This is what happens when flash sensibility meets imagist and revelatory tendencies in poetry. I love the apocalyptic and revelatory... beautiful imagery and a concise sense-meme with a sense of warning or apotheosis of the mundane... there is also a feeling of allegory and/or moral instruction. Very, very deep language for such short pieces. I highly recommend it.
