Very thorough treatment of Maven.
It's easy enough to solve the faces-config.xml mistake circa page 50 if you already know JSF. However, as pointed out, it's impossible to use the URI ending in .jsf without a crash. The author should have been familiar enough with this potential to suggest solutions to common problems.
Unfortunately, I can solve the problems, but not with Maven in the mix. This was the point of me being in here in the first place.
I am currently going through the tutorial and have come across page 50 with the faces-config.xml file. What is the error and what is the solution?

Tutorial starts out good, but there's a bad mistake around page 50 in faces-config.xml; also it was unclear which of the pages should be .jsp or .jsf based on the instructions to create them and what's in the config files. I couldn't get the jsf example to work.
