This book is about Frank Carollo, who was a Prisoner of War during World War II. Frank and the other soldiers on his bomber were shot down over Nazi Austria and were forced to march to POW camp Stalag XVII B. They had no clue the grueling life they were about to experience.
I enjoyed the book for many reasons. To begin with, the plot kept me hooked. The whole time I was reading I was wondering how anyone could survive the conditions Frank and the other soldiers had to endure, and wondered how his family could keep going through the hard times of not knowing whether he was dead or alive.
