HARDCOVER
Parsing is gaining rapidly in importance as we begin to deal with the immensity in quantity and complexity of data in today's internetworked world. Most current parsing technology is not up to the task. Parsing is the heart of any computational process, and truly adaptive systems need adaptive parsing. Being able to deal with complex contextual issues in data processing requires context sensitivity. Adapting to Babel is the first real practical effort in these directions, introducing a practical adaptive, context-sensitive parsing technology called Meta-S and showing how advanced parsing techniques can be applied against problems as those found in natural language processing or bioinformatics.
"Jackson’s book is ... the first to give the reader both the theoretical and practical flavors of this technology, as well as an up-to-date, broad, and deep survey of the history of the field."—Prof. João José Neto, Adaptive Technologies Laboratory, University of Sao Paulo
