My spiritual teacher always told me that if you read the Bible it is wise to substitute Jesus, with the "Christ Principle". He said it would make more sense. The facet of our yoga teaching included the belief that the "Christ Principle" can overshadow ANYONE, appropriately advanced spiritually. No doubt that Apollonius of Tyana was such a man. So whether the historical Jesus was a real or fictitious character is of a lesser importance. The fact that anyone can get where the biblical Jesus figure got (and without Crucification, intercession or any outside help or hindrance is the true message and importance of learning about Apollonius and his life.
