"A review of Edelsha and the Tale of the Thrid Ring"
I just got done reading Edelsha and the Tale of the Third Ring. Belich's influence from C.S. Lewis and Tolkien was apparant througout the book. I love both of those authors so this book was a fun read for me.

I enjoyed the blend of charachters (cats, gryphons, dryads, oreads, goblins, dragons, sorcerers, dhraks, humans, spirits, enchanted stone guardians, and much more). Much like C.S.Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia the story connects two worlds through magic.

Geoff, a boy from Earth (Dartmoor,England) discovers the magical Kingdom of Edelsha after crossing a magical bridge. He quickly finds himself at the center... More > of an adventure that will determine the fate of Edelsha's throne.

The backstories and "stories within a story" remind me of the story, Dune, and I really enjoyed the fact that Belich provided so much depth and history in his story telling.

I highly reccommend this book. If you are looking to escape and to spend some time in an enchanted place - this book is for you. < Less
