"A moving look inside the life of a rural EMT."
What is life like for a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician serving in a small community? Or more importantly, what effect does such a job have on those who willingly perform it?

Rescue workers are the modern-day heroes of our society, wielding IV kits, backboards and defib. machines in place of superhuman strength, speed and X-ray vision. They are expected to function perfectly and without emotion at a moment's notice. They can't get flustered or scared in the face of chaos. Time after time, they are all that stands between victims and death, doing everything they can to protect the one and defeat the other.

But... More > they are human. Just flesh and bone.

Sometimes they fail. Sometimes their job gets the best of them. They have hearts that break and minds that struggle with the horrors they have seen. And often enough, for those serving in small communities, it’s family and friends that they are called upon to save.

THE DUST OF MAN is an autobiographical account of one man’s struggle with the hardships of life as a volunteer EMT in upstate New York. Written with an appealing honesty and a storyteller’s gift of placing the reader in the moment, this book is an experience not to be missed. From house fires and MVA’s (motor vehicle accidents) to rafting accidents and family tragedies, you will experience what the author experienced and never look at rescue workers the same way again. < Less
