I received the book. It was very nice, but I do have an issue. Do you realize that every human in this book is blue eyed? I thought we had gotten past this by now. There are thousands of Hispanic, African American, and Asian kids and adults out their now with CI's. It really bothers me that atleast one non-white child or adult couldn't have been used in the illustrations. I am dismayed to think that the authors, whom I assume, would have some input in deciding on the illustrations aren't aware of this issue as they are going to be teaching our children.
Again it was a nice book. I will be sending it on to my children's school, but I do think a little more sensitivity to the cultural and racial diversity of this wonderful country we are privilidged to live in should have been recognized.
Thank you very much

Thank you all for your comments and kind words. The current edition has been updated to more accurately reflect the cultural diversity of Ellie's world. Happy Hearing!

This book was great. To the reviewer who is brainwashed to police others creativity by getting indignant over there not being other kids with "different coloured eyes", get your head examined.
