Serious. What am I gonna say, that my work blows chunks? That I'm no Kerouac (I'm not, but I am I and he wasn't Me)? That it's all too esoteric and Me No Understand?
Hardly. I think you'd have to be pushing 90 and reflexively angry, to get reflexively angry at me, here, being reflexively angry. Fact is, I'm entitled. That's a tenet I live by, and always have.
Pedantic is what works for me. That, The Confessional, and Porky Pig wavin' g'bye, in the last line. My points in "12 times 12..." are very simple, and I would hope that you would recognize them. More > debate ad infinitum over whether or not addiction is disease or character flaw, but Community--which, I shun, anyway--if it is a Community of spit, sealing wax and Self, may as well be faerie queens and dancing kitties. Schopenhauer would sing my poetry, Pavarotti-loud, to every hurting person: Self-based Community is an oxymoron. In fact, ol' Schop's would say to them, you're ALL oxymorons (Thank You, I'm here all week; don't forget to tip your waitresses)!
My pieces here are, largely, large. In fact, they're ponderous. They are a manifesto of the Get On With It. If you like pop culture references, don't blame me for not picking your favorites. If you think a haiku's imagery is "work", you might like my plainspoken-ness, rude though it is. If you're a fan of God helping the hurting or the hurting helping each other, if you actually believe in the heart of your heart of hearts, that uniformity of thought and infinite diversity can Ever walk as lovers, hand-in-hand, then I suggest something else. Perhaps something with ducks and pretty, happy things. Most of my work, in some way, shape or manner, screams that the world is ugly.
The frightening thing is, I may convince you. Sans any monster but God and Man.
