"20 x 20 Gift Book"
The Jackpine Writers' Bloc is a writing group located in the Park Rapids/Menahga area of north central Minnesota. Since 1993, they have been meeting, doing readings, putting on workshops, and publishing the Talking Stick Books. By 2008, they are up to volume 17 of the Talking Stick. These books are compilations of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction by Minnesota writers.
In 2008, they also did something new. They invited 20 Minnesota artists to each submit one piece of their artwork. Then they invited 20 Minneota writers to be matched up randomly with the artwork. They were assigned the task of writing a one page poem or short piece of fiction or creative... More > nonfiction inspired by the artwork. The artwork and writings were on display at Jackpine Java in Park Rapids, MN for 3 weeks in July. Then on August 3, there was a private reception for the participating writers and artists at Jackpine Java. The artists each spoke about their art and the writers read their writings. What a great day!! And this special gift edition of 20 x 20 Art & Words celebrates this event. The book is a beautiful perfect bound square lap book, 7.5" by 7.5". The cover is black with all the artwork arranged on the front in all their wonderful colors. Inside, you can see large color prints of the artwork and the corresponding writings. Enjoy!! < Less
