"Not so good."
I hate to be negative, but this really is a collection of naive and dreadful poetry. Admittedly, the poet is young but his youth and inexperience show as he blunders through a collection of smug, culturally insensitive and misogynistic ramblings.
His persepctive remains fixed throughout each poem to the point where it becomes hard to tell where one ends and the next begins.
Definitely has it's so-bad-it's-hilarious moments, but Mr Glines has a lot more work to do before he attempts to publish again.
"If 60 Licks Was A Tee Shirt"
This is the kind of book you don't just read. You read and it goes into your soul.
The words aren't there to describe the transcendentalism aspect of the prose. But if it were to be a garment of clothing, it would the tee shirt to end all tee shirts.
I picture a full moon illuminating three wolves starting into your eyes, the window of your soul. And wondering if they can take a bite out of it.
A stunning collection from an incredible young poet. The rhythmic writings of Allen Glines will leave you feeling thoughtful and satisfied. His fantastic imagery and thought-provoking, bold questions will fill your soul and take away the hunger for something real and genuine.
