I'm Twisting And Turning With Remorse

It is ruined! The fire is out, nothing but ash, and, unwittingly, I did it. I didn't want to, but he just kept pushing.

"Come on! Just one! Just one and then I won't bother you anymore."

There has always been a lot of competition in our family--competition in the name of fun, but deep down going for the throat. And, there has always been a lot of male ego involved. A husband, four sons and seven grandsons always out to prove something and I never could make myself take a dive.

I was so happy to see Mark get interested... More > in something. He just loved trying to figure out AnnAndBenjamin's riddles and puzzles. He went to the trouble of making up one of his own and was thrilled at the comments and guesses that he received. But, he kept thinking of the one that he had made for me and that I had guessed it so quickly after only one reading. But, you see, Ann was right. I know my son and how he thinks and we have the same memories of family happenings.

So, as I knew he would, it came to that time where he wanted me to make one for him. "No!" I said. "I'm not any good at that." But he wouldn't let up. Over and over he pushed until I said, "OK! Just one!"

Satisfied he left me alone sitting at my computer. I looked up and picked the very first thing that my eyes lit upon. The words just fell into place and within five minutes I had printed him a copy.

This was two days ago. He couldn't believe how quickly it had come to me and he never could figure it out. Now he has lost interest in riddles and puzzles and I feel badly that I didn't take a mental dive.
My "mirror image" and I
are kept apart, one from the other
by an object we cannot remove.
We cannot even see each other.
I twist and turn while my twin stands still,
and then at times, I am still
while my twin twists and turns.
Often there are hands all over me
squeezing me, pulling at me,
Yes! Even yours.
