"AMAZING" I am almost finished with this book and i LOVE it. Anyone who is a fan of Shannon and Blind Melon should buy this book. The best part about it is that its not just a story of what happened. It's in the words of everyone who was involved, including Shannon!! This is a must read for all Melon heads out there!

"Desserted, not Deserted" Thanks so much to Greg Prato for putting this book together. I'm always looking for more on the great, short lived Blind Melon version 1, and their incredible singer, Shannon Hoon. This book is filled with first-hand accounts by family, band members, etc., and provides an in depth look. I'm reading a book on Van Morrison in similar style, and have to say that the Prato book is much more fulfilling. Get this book if you want to know more about the best band of their generation, and their amazing singer/songwriter, Shannon Hoon.

""See everything on the inside, out..."" A Devil On One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other is a fantastic read. Greg Prato has documented the complete story of one of most underrated bands to ever be labeled a "one hit wonder".

Whether you’re a hardcore "Melonhead" or a casual fan of music/rock biographies, the story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon, as captured here, is fascinating.

From Shannon's mother, Nel Hoon to Alice In Chains Jerry Cantrell to Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver's Duff McKagan (and everyone else in between), the cast of characters paints a vivid picture of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon.

This is a hard book to put down once picked up. I don't think I even blinked during the chapters entitled; October, 21 1995 and Aftermath. I highly recommend this book. In the words of Cartman, "IT KICKASS!!!"

"EXCELLENT! ! ! !"
"A Devil On One Shoulder, An Angel On the Other" is an amazing book! Any Blind Melon fan will love this book. Melon fans have been waiting so long for a book dedicated to their favorite band and Shannon Hoon. The wait is finally over! Thank you Greg!

The format is definitely interesting. I think I have also read a book about Jerry Garcia that is in a similar format where the entire book is a series of quotes (grouped chronologically). It makes for an easy read, and also a book that you can pick up and put down according to your schedule (although you probably won't want to put it down). Since every chapter is a series of quotes, you can leave off and pick up... More > at any point of the book.

The other thing is that this book would be great if someone had never heard of Blind Melon/Shannon Hoon before and it would be a wonderful introduction into the world of melon. But at the same time, it has plenty of hard to find facts and stories that (up until this point) have not been common knowledge. . . so it can hold the interest of hard-core melonheads who thought they might've known everything there was to know about this band.

This book does not hold back, and it tells much more of the story than I expected to hear. Thanks you for compiling this book for us, Greg. It is a gem! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the pictures. Great never-seen-before photos of our favorite band - Blind Melon! Altogether, this is a great book for any Melonhead. And $20 - what a great deal! I highly recommend this book! < Less
