Laurie is a young girl when her innocence is brutally taken, and in the three years since she hasn’t spoken a single word and is terrified to be left alone on her parent’s farm in 1870 Ohio. She knows the only way to keep from giving in to the terror threatening to overwhelm her is to stay busy, and she steps into the shed to get her hoe, unaware that when she steps outside a stranger will be standing there.
