"A SLIP IN THE RAIN"
As a close friend of Dick Thornton (or Trix as I have called him since I dated him in the 70's)I was privileged to read the galleys of this book while it was in the creative process. Craig Wallace has written an amazing account of this very special time in the history of the Argos. I was there when this group of very individual men, who pulled together as a team, gave the Argos their "glory days". They were "rebels" with their fashion statements (e.g. Dick Thornton's Indian Hat!), living for the here and now, driving porche's and corvettes, having the time of their lives but never losing sight of the power of teamwork. As Trix commented to me when we attended the Hall... More > of Fame Awards the year Russ Jackson was inducted - "Whatever happend to playing for the glory - from here on in it's all about money" How right he was. Read this book and witness the last of the glory days and how an era died. Thank you Craig for documenting this very special time in the history of football. < Less
