"A Stirring Preface!!" If you are British, please do have your best thick-skin on as you read this! Although I cannot comment on anything beyond this preview, this does begin with a republishing of a stirring preface of presumably a similar tale from 1819. It is an act of supreme stubbornly-proud defiance, but, considering the events that preceded, was undoubteldy justified, any right minded person would have to acknowledge this. But as the book progresses we are promised tales of heroism and bravery from all sides, and as was often the case, ( although by no means the norm )instances of gentlemanly conduct and high manners, mainly on the High Seas, and again centering on the US / British conflicts. If the preface is typical, then the book itself will both grip you and entertain you in equal measure.
