"Americana in black and white" This is a wonderfully wacky collection of Americana photos by Mary and stories uncovered in the interviews by Mary's daughter Rachel, a lovely and brilliant young woman. They take trips all over the country to capture stories and offbeat bits of American life. Mary's eye is unique and her pictures capture all levels of the story and her composition is beautiful and satisfyingly rich.

"Review of AMERICAN JOURNAL by Mary Haggerty" In this day and age when people are so fixated on large cities and hustle and bustle---it is a pleasure to reflect on the country roads leading to charming villages and the people who inhabit them.
I have chosen to live on Ocracoke Island and was particulary pleased to see this unique part of North Carolina included.
