"Re: Who should buy this book. Why you should buy this book." Beautifully done. Nice layout. One doesn't have to flip pages for common psalms used daily, e.g., the invitatory in Vigils and daily Compline. But this spiral-bound book will not hold up under daily use. Also are there plans to publish a hard-bound edition? And why not include the canticles, e.g., the Benedictus, Magnificat, 3rd nocturn of Sunday Vigils, and daily Lauds?

"Who should buy this book. Why you should buy this book."
Buy this book if you are:

1. A Benedictine oblate.
2. Interested in monasticism for lay people.
3. Interested in the monastic liturgy of the hours.
4. Interested in St. Benedict and his Rule.

This book is a powerful resource if you are in one of the above groups. This books meets the technical needs of those seeking to pray the Psalms each week.

But it is not the technical merits of the book — following the Thesaurus Liturgiae Horarum Monasticae, Schema A2 — that causes me to suggest that Benedictines buy this book. It’s the book’s beauty.

As with much of... More > the beauty found in Benedictine life, the "Benedictine Weekly Psalter" is a creation of beauty because of its balance.

The way the book’s size, off-white page color, complementing font styles, white space, placement of the names of the days of the week and hour to be prayed, page numbers, and even the weight of the book are details over which attention was given in classic Benedictine style. Everything is in balance. And from that balance of the details comes the beauty of the whole.
