"rated TEEN?" I've read 'Courting Disaster'. Outside of the utterly unrealistic depictions of the female form (Guigar is incapable of drawing a woman with anything other than pneumatic dimensions), his self-rating of this book as 'Teen' is thoroughly irresponsible. It's for adults, plain and simple. I've always thought 15- and 16-year olds need sex education, but this book is definitely aimed for an older set.

"Full Court Press - For Humor!"
Brad Guigar, as any fan of Evil Inc. or Greystone Inn could tell you, is a delightful artist who lovingly portrays a wide range of characters of all shapes and types - from dumpy gargoyles to men and women of all ages and proportions.

His "Courting Disaster" strips do tend to play to the intended audience - adults who like gently wry looks at sex and love - and that only enhances his subject matter. As iconic representations of males and females navigating the rocky shoals of love, the characters are generally attractive to look at, which definitely softens the burden of human foibles under the microscope of humor.... More > Guigar's art and humor are both crisp and flowing - if you like this kind of thing at all, you'll love this book.

Depending on how much you think teenagers are familiar with sex already (my guess is - a great deal more than some reviewers are comfortable with), you may or may not think this book appropriate for teens. But considering that the movie rating system considers teens able to handle wars, torture, and decapitations, the good-natured and honest (if idealized) depictations of sex and nudity in this book are well within a teenager's ability to handle.

...And they might even learn a thing or too about love, relationships, and the perspective it takes to view the inevitable mistakes one makes with kindness and a healthy sense of humor! < Less
