I've previously painted horses with acrylics and alkyds, would never have thought about using pastels/pencils before I saw this book. The author clearly describes the types of horses, the materials used and the prep required. Also, safety and useful tips on handling the materials. Very well illustrated with photos of the author's own work, all the more impressive as she prefers the small 'Stablemate' size. I suspect, from the step-by-step directions, and the descriptions of 'lifting off' colour that this technique of gradual layers is more forgiving of mistakes than paint. Excellent book, well worth the cost for any customiser looking for something new.

"Great how to book" This book is well thought out with step by step instructions that even the first time customizer can follow. It includes useful tips, what to buy and how to do it safely. With parent supervision, even a young child could customize their first horse. The information contained within can also be extrapolated in to fixing rubs on airbrushed or OF models. Another great model horse reference book. Well worth the money.
