"Great effort" As a first time author, Michaels does certainly impress. Having read the book in a single day, I found it to be a refreshing, original story with some decent, almost lovable characters.

Having said that, it does have some flaws. For starters, certain parts of the book don't really need to be there (such as Shelly's dreams). Also, it seems like there are a few too many references to other movies or books- it seems to break my concentration when I see ANOTHER Lord of the Rings reference. Lastly, the plot feels rather thin, although the author tries his very hardest to thicken it up.

There are a few mistakes with grammer, but it was not so bad.

Overall, it is a fine book by a first-time author. I am looking forward to Mr Michaels next novel, and hope that learning from previous mistakes will make a novel even greater.

I'll start by saying I have given this 5 out of 5 as it is a refreshing, interesting and very different read from a first time author. This book deals with ideas, life and real people that are almost always missed by more orthodox, published writers. It is refreshing to read a novel that talks about real life in England ... this definitely has a 'Northern' feel to it! Reading it is like reading about real things in real time with a very healthy (unhealthy!!) splash of horror thrown in! So, who would I recommend this book to ... ravers, horror fans, film fans, normal down to earth people!?! If you are non of the above why not give it a try and have a look into another real/totally unreal world! As a first time effort this is great and I look forward to the next instalment ... if its on its way!?! As a first effort there is room for improvement but I'm looking forward to reading on as author and stories develop and I recommend that others do too! Fine effort!!!
