A must for any coiler! This book is all Dan promises it to be and more! I cannot tell you how valuable the information in this book is; I wish I would have had it before I figured all this stuff out on my own.

The author has extensively researched his topic, and presents it in a easy to understand format. If you don't think you're up for designing the entire thing, he gives plans for his entire DRSSTC-1. Also included in this book are plots of waveforms for almost every component in the DRSSTC system, and he even includes waveforms of potential problems and their causes.

This is the best book I've seen anywhere written on the tesla coil, and the first time I've seen most... More > everything you need to know about a DRSSTC in one place.

By the way, it also comes in black and white. The information will still be there in its entireity, but like the author once said, "It's meant to be a color book." I agree.

Beautiful pictures, loads of information. I must admit I was a bit timid about spending $50-something on a book I'd never even had the chance to look at, but it's definitely worth it, especially if your building your first DRSSTC.

"DRSSTC : Building the Modern Day Tesla Coil"
Really cool book. If I get a vote, I say go ahead and pay the extra $$$ and get the color version. The full-page glossy, magazine-quality photographs alone are worth the asking price. This is more than just a tech manual--it is a visual treat!

As a non-engineer, I was concerned that the technical jargon and mathematics might go over my head. I was pleased to find the book written in plain language. The text flows well and is pleasantly readable. I picked up the main points my first time through, and I grasped the details on my second reading. Not bad considering I have zero training or experience on switch mode power... More > circuits.

The book clearly describes how disruptive solid state tesla coils work and explains--both in pictures and text--how to build them. The projects presented are not for beginners, but anyone reasonably skilled in hobby-level electronics, coiling, amateur radio, etc., should find McCauley's plans attainable.

Good job Dan!
