Founded in 1898, Epiphany Mission sits in a scenic valley of the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee in the community of Sherwood twelve miles outside the University of the South at Sewanee. Well known for its walled garden built by the boys of the mission beginning in 1938, Epiphany has endured the Depression years, the Second World War, and a devastating fire in 1960. This is the history of Epiphany Mission including the loss of a triptych painted by artist Philip Perkins in the fire and its return in 2001. The booklet serves as a companion to the book "Life's Journey: Collected Essays and Poems" by George W. Jones, Epiphany's first priest.
