"Costume Props for the Rest of Us"
As a seamstress, the vast majority of my costuming effort goes into sewing. I don't have the time, money or space to commit to working with fiberglass, thermoplastics or resins. Props always seem to get thrown together at the last minute with cardboard and glue. Now there is a book that shows me how I can still make props out of cardboard and glue - only now they look great!

Devin Harrigan is a well known costumer who has won awards at numerous anime conventions. In his introductory book, he demonstrates how to makes classy looking props using only materials that are easy to find and cheap to buy (sometimes free!) The instructions are clear... More > and detailed. The diagrams are crisp enough that they can be printed out and used as templates for those of us who are drawing impaired. His techniques are also simple enough that it is easy to see how they could be adapted to make many other props beyond those for which he gives step-by-step instructions. In addition, his use of anime style characters to introduce each section makes it fun to work through each project.

If you have any interest in costuming at all - whether it is for cosplay, community theater, or just Halloween - this is a great buy! I can't wait for the full edition! < Less

"Amazing Things that can be done with Cardboard." An really nice and simple booklet on how to use carboard in the use of props. Even though its a sample of whats to come, it has some detail pictures and instructions in how to make ninja props outta cardboard. (Which can come in handy due to the large number of Naruto fans out there). Anyway Its a great start to anyone who wants to make nice looking props but dont have a lotta cash to spend on em.

"Excellent Read / Technically Enlightening" The Featherweight tutorials we've all come to know and love have nothing on the depth and direction of these step-by-step illustrated guides. Along with a healthy dose of comic entertainment, Featherweight explains all the materials and techniques needed to create some great props out of attainable and (mostly) very safe supplies. For those of us who prefer not to breath in resin fumes, this is a God-send.
